Boardsmill            10-10

Dunboyne            1-9

Despite being reduced to the bare bones and traveling with just 15 players Boardsmill easily dismissed the challenge of hosts Dunboyne to score a third successive Ladies FL Div 1 victory.

After losing the toss and forced to play up the hill and against the strong wind Boardsmill needed goals from Aoife Flynn and Laura Dempsey to stay in touch. Fiona O'Neill kicked six of Dunboyne's first seven points as the hosts opened up a 1-7 to 2-1 lead. However, Boardsmill settled and with Ciara Ashe also blasting a goal they effectively wrapped up the points to lead by 6-1 to 1-8 at the break.

After the resumption the aim was to get the points tally into double figures and after Eamma Reilly added two goals and Aoife Tally brought her personal tally to 4-4 it was Davina Dempsey, who flew in especially from London, who lofted over the 10th point. The last 15 minutes were academic as everyone tried to get on the scoresheet.

It was an impressive win, but it must be considered that Dunboyne were very poor. Bigger tests will lie ahead, starting with St Ultan's in the next round. Emma Troy, Maire Hegarty, Helen Regan, Flynn, Laura Dempsey and Suzy Kennedy were best for

Boardsmill - E Murray; H Kennedy, C Murray, S Kennedy; E Troy (1-0), M Hegarty, L Griffin; L Bagnall, H Regan; A Flynn (4-4), L Dempsey (3-3), M Murray; E Reilly (2-0), C Ashe (1-1), C A Foley. Sub - D Dempsey (01) for M Murray.
