Boardsmill's junior hurling side took on local rivals Trim in the junior hurling championship semi final in Longwood on Tuesday last (30th August 2011). The 'Mill lads got off to a slow start only creating only three scoring opportunities in the first half. However fine defensive performances from Jaimsie Loughran, Fergal Smith and Peter McLoughlin in goal meant they limited Trim forwards to only four points in the opening period.

The second half was a tense affair with both sides battling hard to gain momentum. An outstanding 10 minute period for John Mitchell in midfield for Boardsmill where he scored three superb points meant that the boys in blue had the slight upper hand. However Trim fought back to to draw level with 10 minutes remaining. Finn Ennis scored a fantastic point from outside the 65 year line while off balance to give the 'Mill side a 1 point advantage. Trim scored another point to draw back level, however a free awarded to Mitchell and converted by Sean Dixon meant the 'Mill side won by the narrowest of margins.
